Coffee classifications

Classifications of coffee: there is a general international framework and definition system to classify coffee and its quality? The answer is no.

The classification of coffee is done by the features that are characteristic for the relevant coffee producing country. Moreover, the terminology of classification vary from country to country as well as the quality standard. To say something about a classification you first should understand the the coffee producing country and the coffee plantations. Various coffee classifications are used for size, colour, uniformity specific to the country. There are also classifications for the altitude where the beans have grown (as far as it differs for the quality).

There is a uniform classification, each country has a size characteristics of the bean.

For the Brazilian coffee classification an adequate set of classification exists. In additon there is a classification for the number of wrong beans in a certain quantity of coffee.
