Species coffee beans & coffee

The main species of coffee are:

  • Arabica coffee (70% of world production)
  • Robusta coffee (20% of world production)

The official names are: coffea arabica coffea canephora and the coffea Canephora. Together, these two species of coffee beans form almost the entire world production.


Other coffee species (species to their official name):

  • coffea benghalensis
  • coffea stenophylla
  • coffea Liberica
  • coffea congensis
  • coffea mogeneti
  • coffea bonnieri
  • coffea excelsa
  • coffea gallinii

These coffees are clearly less grown. Coffee production is usually smaller and more to local focus.
